Weekly Update

Sorry NO layouts to share, it has been so hot and I have not felt like scrapping. My room is cool in the morning but by 12 the sun beams through that side of the house and my room gets awfully hot. Have started my challenge layout this week, having troubles with it... want to do sewing but it is so much of it that I think I need a sewing machine, but I dont have one :( Have thought about going and buying a cheap one, just for scrapbooking.

Went out all day today, I am so tired. The dreaded Christmas shopping!! Well at least I am getting somewhere with it... Just a little more shopping and hopefully it should be finished, the budget has been blown but Christmas only comes around once a year.... Did grab heaps of bargains, had a coffee and than even got to stop for lunch finally at 2.... Thanks Nikki my legs are still sore....Bumped into Maria too, so that was nice to have a chat and I will see her tomorrow at the sketch class.

Have plenty of photos to share so will upload a few that hopefully I will get round to scrapping soon...

This is Charlene with her little baby...

I got heaps of photos of Jamie in the garden, he was so fasinated in these flowers and wanted to know if the bees were in there... it was so cute.

I wanted photos of my mum and Jamie for next weeks Copy Cat class at Scrapbooks Etc I love these photos of my mum and Jamie.

This is my favourite photo of Jamie on the day....

Scrapbooking Memories Vol 8 No 5

I got my copy of SM Magazine today and my layout "Summer Fun" is on page 29. This is a layout I did in January this year, and was accepted in February and has taken this long to finally make it into the magazine.
It was just a FUN layout that I did of Jamie enjoying the water at Hope Island. You can see by his face he is definitely enjoying the water.
So here it is for everyone to look at now, I can finally share it.....Woo Hoo.....

Term 2 Week 7 Challenge

This week's challenge was to create a double sided layout with whatever you do to the other side has to go through to the other side. Also for extra credit you have to make a hole or tear from one layout through to the other side.
My layout I have cut 3 hearts out at the bottom, one I sewed through to the other side and has a double sided heart charm dangling, one has acetate with rub-ons and the other is open with tiny heart buttons around the edge.
I have created another wedding page and have now nearly completed my wedding album...

This is a close up of the 3 hearts, so you can see that they go through to both sides.

Damien WINS Australian Idol

Woo Hoo, I am so glad he won..... I think they were both wonderful singers and have great personalities to boot. Was sad to see Chris as he was my favourite but if he could not win it than I am happy Damien did.... It is still on the TV here but I am taping it and going to bed, probably wont finish here till 10.15pm.

The fire works were brilliant.
And of course didn't Chris sing well last night too!!!

Jess looked so much nicer in this dress, she is a beautiful young girl.

Check out Shannon, isn't he HOT! My all time favourite IDOL...

What about these diva's they look so good now, love Pauline she looked so hot!

Jamie's School Concert

Jamie had his school concert yesterday and it was awesome. All the children are so beautiful and try so hard to sing and dance and impress their parents. This year most of the classes did a 'Christmas song' or danced to a modern song. Jamie's first performance was 'We are Family' each of the children were dressed in different cultures, Jamie was an arab. We did have a bit of a mishap with Jamie, he slipped over in his socks and was trying to pull them off and all the crowd were laughing so Jamie started laughing with them than looked at me and put his thumb up in the air. He handled it real well and was happy that the attention was on him.Than there 2nd performance was 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' and guess who was Santa. Yep Jamie he was so excited and went around the children waving and saying HO HO HO. It was so clear and everyone was clapping and singing along....

This is Jamie as the arab in his 'We are Family' song. There is actually more kids missing on the end but I just could not fit them all in....

This is when he slipped over trying to take his socks off.

This is a better picture of Jamie looking....

This is Jamie as Santa Claus...

The photos weren't that great, it was so dark in there and my good camera had a flat battery. But was happy that I got some photos....

Look at my new "Header"

Doesn't that look awesome, thanks to my friend Sam. I have been trying for ages to get the damn thing working. But had tried so many times and Sam comes along and in one night manages to fix the problem..... THANK YOU SAM.......... I appreciate all your help...
Today I went to a class at Scrapbooks Etc, Susan's 'Copy Cat' class. It was plenty of inking and cutting, but loved my page afterwards. I did photo's of Jamie that I have had for ages, when Katrina and I took the kids to 'Daisy Hill Koala Park'. I called the layout 'Cheeky Chops' ummm yep I know you are saying what does that mean? Well this was Lyndal's title, this is her new nickname for Jamie... how sweet.... But it was a cute title and I went with it!
Maria happened to drop into the shop also and we got to chat a little and she booked into a couple of classes with me in December. We are going to catch up tomorrow at Nikki's, and if I get some scrapping done than I will have something to share.
Well off to bed now, had a late night last night and was up early.......

U and ME Baby, our quirky love!

This week's challenge is to alter a pair of glasses or sunglasses. So have been racking my mind what to do. So me and Nikki went shopping today to find a pair of glasses with round lenses. Did find a pair but then Nikki found this HUGE love heart shape lenses and what a laugh. We had a great idea and I came straight home and asked Andrew to quickly have a shower, that I needed to get some photos of US. So we went out side while he held the camera out and we mucked around taking funny photos. Have got a few and went straight away and started printing them and started working on my glasses. Can't wait to see how the sunglasses turn out!
Now here are a few photos that wont be in my little book that I am making but have a look at them I am sure you will have a laugh!

Term 2 Week 5 Challenge

This week's challenge was to focus on the journaling on a layout and NO photo, or you could choose the hard option and journal about a piece of clothing but include a clip art picture or something like that. Well I did not have NO story about a piece of clothing that I could think of so I went the easy option this week.
I have so many things I could journal about but decided that a story that needed to be told was the one about Jamie, when the doctors told me he had down syndrome. Some things in this I have never told to anyone, especially my visit to the little chapel. Plenty more thoughts and words to god were said but I chose NOT to mention this in my journaling. Since it was going onto a forum that many people would most likely read. I hope that no-one gets offended by what I wrote, but this is the truth and if you were some-one in my situation you would probably have felt the same way. I was only 22 years at the time, Jamie's father did not even acknowledge him and I virtually did everything on my own. As I have always said, "I have become a stronger person and a better person for having Jamie in my life" and now would have it no other way.
My wish was granted and Jamie became a fighter and even though he has had many battles over the years to fight, he now is a healthy little boy. Every-one that meets him falls in love with in an instant, he is lovable and watch out because he can understand everything you say. He takes everything in and has a good memory, he might be slower in reading, writing and adding up but he makes up for it in other ways. His speech is limited but he tries so hard and you know mothers they can understand everything in an instant which might seem like gibberish to everyone else, but it is a normal language to ME!

So here it is "Becoming your MUM" I have concentrated the whole concept of my PP (by cutting it up into strips and than different lengths), to be unstructured to reflect the turmoil of how I was feeling.
Even though I came to grips with Jamie's disabiltity all those years ago, this is the first time I have been able to convey my thoughts into words.
I am not sure whether you will be able to read my journalling though. But if you cant you can go have a look at Scrapbook City just click on the link and hopefully it will take you there!

Visit to IKEA

Had a constructive morning scrapping and nearly got my layout completed, than my daughter comes over and has a great idea to go to IKEA. Well I wasn't too keen as I had Jamie, and he is the worst shopper at the best of times. But we convince him with we will get him something to eat...(he is loving food at the moment)LOL
Well what a nightmare to find a park the bumper to bumper everywhere the roads that should have been 2 way could only fit one car, drivers just parking on the side roads. So my mood was not great after that, than I felt like I was going round and round in circles, got lost so many times. I found my shelves that I want I wrote the price down $369, they are not quite 12 x 12 squares though. Found these little baskets that would look great but they did not have material inside them so thought NO might have a look some-where else.
But by the time we were leaving Jamie had had enough and kept saying BORED BORED (that is his new word). Well it seemed for-ever to find the checkouts, the place is huge, and I am telling you now I have NO intentions in going back in a hurry. We did manage to get a bargain, an American hot dog and soft drink and you could re-fil for only $2.00. So we had something to eat and headed home and now my feet are sore and I am extremely tired and now don't feel like finishing my layout. Tomorrow is another day as Andrew is working and it is just Me and Jamie!

Not much happening this week

Well it has been a very quiet week this week, did a sketch class at Scrapbooks Etc and am very happy with it. I chose to do Lyndal's again this week, just love her work (sorry Nikki)butI can always go back and copy yours at any time! It was a great day spent with a lovely bunch of ladies, great nibblies, hats (those bloody hats!),plenty of photos (Lyndal and that camera) and a little champagne for Melbourne Cup. I came second in the sweeps, so that made my day even better and spent my winnings at the shop.
Last night I went Christmas shopping with Charlene, got my layby's off. Not much there really, I got Bailey and Zoey's presents complete. There was a few things for Jamie but am uncertain what else to buy him. Might go back this weekend and buy a few more things since Christmas is just around the corner!
Picked up some great photos from Harvey Norman today and of course they are of TONKA he is soooooo cute. I will be doing a layout of him called " Mischievous Puppy". Will upload a few photos to show you.

Have not started my challenge this week yet, have my journalling and ideas done but not put together yet. Not quite sure about my journalling cause it is so personal not sure if I want to share it with everyone to see.
Hopefully I will get heaps of scrapping done as Andrew has to work all weekend. So I want to complete a few unfinished layouts and put a few together for other peoples albums.
ABOUT ME....So I suppose you could say that I am feeling much better, have actually gone out a few times this week. Went to a class, went over to Scrapbook City as they had an awesome sale on 50% off certain brands (I of course bought heaps of Basic Grey), went shopping with my daughter and spent the day with my brother today.
Oh I forgot to say, Maria came home on Monday from her trip overseas and she went out of her way to pop into the shop (Scrapbooks Etc) on Tuesday because she knew I was doing a class. Just to give ME the biggest {{{{HUG}}}}.... I did well to poise myself and not cry, I cant wait to have coffee with her next week.... Thank you Maria, it did brighten my day to see YOU :)

Term 2 week 4 Challenge

This weeks challenge was to create a layout using a shaped edge and for extra points you had to create your own. Well I thought I should take the easy option and just buy the new cardstock out with the scolloped edge. But I had a few good ideas that I could include some doodling. So I doodled around the edge of the cardstock and than cut the CS around the edge of the doodling. I have never done doodling before and everything I tried just did not work out, so I decided to go with rub-ons instead. So I used flourishes and words and included some doodling. I must admit I did stress about the look and whether it was balanced etc, but am happy with how it turned out.

So here it is!! This is a photo of Charlene at her Year 10 Semi Formal, yes and she is only 15. WOW dosen't she look just so beautiful and all grown up. I just love this photo and now I really love this layout.
